Built by a teacher

The story of HomeRoom

HomeRoom didn't start as a company. It started as a fix for my own messy mornings.

Twenty years in the classroom

Hi, I’m Jeff. I’m in my 20th year teaching elementary school, so I know the morning routine well: a dozen tabs open before the first bell, a timer on one site, a slideshow on another, and a name picker buried somewhere in the mess. I got tired of teaching around my tools instead of with them.

So I built something simple for my own room. One screen that held the handful of things I reached for every day, and stayed out of the way the rest of the time.

From my room to yours

I wasn’t trying to start anything. But when other teachers in my building saw it up on my whiteboard, they asked if they could use it too. Then their friends asked. HomeRoom grew the way good classroom ideas usually do, passed from one teacher to the next because it genuinely made the day easier.

It was never meant to be one more app for kids to log into. It’s a command center for you, the teacher. It keeps your day organized so you can focus on the part that matters, and then actually leave work at work.

What I care about

  • 🛡️
Privacy first No student logins, no data mining, no tracking. What happens in your class stays yours.
  • Your time is the point Every click I can save you is a minute back for your class, or your evening. If a feature doesn’t save you time, it doesn’t ship.
  • 🤝
Honest pricing There’s a free version to use as long as you like. If you upgrade, it’s $20 a year, which covers the cloud hosting and AI costs and not much else. No investors, no upsells, no data for sale.

Close the tabs. Teach the class. Leave work at work.

Thanks for checking out HomeRoom.
